Originating from Gujarat, Gharcholas have been used for years in Gujarati weddings. Traditionally,  Gharchola sarees were worn as Odhani/ Chunri for auspicious ocassions and so were made in bright colours. These sarees are a way of welcoming the new bride into the groom's home.

The weavers of Banaras also have learnt the skills of weaving Gharcholas..... thus making it popular accross India and beyond! Zari is an integral part of every Gharchola creation.  The golden zari is woven along with silk yarn to create the exquisite grid pattern. Each grid in this saree has a dot centre and beautiful resham pattern is integrated in the making of zari grid. As per tradition, the Gharchola saree comes in a single colour, where the aanchal is diistinguished by a different pattern in zari and thread weaving.

This Canary Yellow coloured Gharchola saree is woven in soft and supple Dupion Banarsi silk, making it a wonderful drape for all festive occasions.

When you buy a Gharchola, you are promoting a part of Indian culture and Heritage..... an heirloom to be passed through generations.
